Journey through the vision of Christin Binner, Guru of Alsace. Taste 3 different versions of Le Sacrabée, which is from the Grand Cru Kaefferkopf.
Divided into several units, The Kaefferkopf, or Head of the Scarab, are 6 hills that surround the village of Ammerschwihr, of which the best slopes are classified as Grand Cru. Which probably gave the name to this Grand Cru ... unless it is due to these magnificent green-blue beetles that are more and more present now that weedkillers and other pesticides are less used in this terroir, our municipality being among the most “organic” in Alsace!

Kaefferkopf wines are intense, full-bodied and complex. They often express spicy notes with a round attack on the mouth. They are also marked by fresh acidity with a beautiful, delicious finish. The elegant balance is due to the harmony between the lingering, generous attack along with the fresh finish.

Le Scarabée Qui Bulle 2014
Region: Alsace, France
Grapes: Gewürztraminer, Muscat, Riesling
Style: Creamy and ripe sparkling

An uninhibited and gourmet Grand Cru, while retaining the smoothness, depth and length worthy of a great wine from the complex and saline terroir. The Sparkling expression of the Grand Cru Kaefferkopf. A mosaic of aromas and flavours, from citrus to apple, pears, to almonds and brioche. We could go on and on. This Scarabee will definitely carry on his back for a wonderful voyage around the realm of scents and tastes.

Le Scarabée Skin Touch 2016
Region: Alsace, France
Grapes: Gewürztraminer, Muscat, Riesling
Style: Orange long maceration

The skin contact version of Grand Cru Kaefferkopf. Aged 24 months in big old wood barrel and 24 months sur lie. First aromas are tropical fruits, like melon, and passion fruit, then slowly reveals stone fruits, like peach and nectarine as well as orange peel and some floral aromas of chamomile and elderflower. On the palate you also get passion fruit, nectarine, giving a first impression of roundness, but then it shrinks into a nice lean, dry and citrusy finish, with a touch of bitterness.

Le Scarabée du Temps Passé 2013
Region: Alsace, France
Grapes: Gewürztraminer, Muscat, Riesling
Style:  Aromatic, fragrant and oxidative

Oxidative and Semi-sweet wine from Grand Cru Kaefferkopf, aged 42 months on fine lees in large wooden vat and old barrels not topped up. It is subtle, the delicate bouquet has an ethereal base smoothed by aromas of hazelnut and plants; reminiscent of aromatic herbs and dark tobacco. Light and smooth in the mouth with well-balanced acidity; both complex and evocative, giving way to a dry finish and lingering aftertaste with a hint of candied fruits, nuts and wood. Slightly sweet, 18mg/L. the sweetness is not overpowering.
