Intellego Wines

Intellego Wines is a tiny, family-run winery in South Africa's Swartland region. Jurgen Gouws, a winemaker who is passionate about making wines that showcase the region's distinct terroir, started the winery.

The emphasis of Intellego Wines is on sustainable farming practices and minimal intervention winemaking. Jurgen thinks that working in sync with nature produces the best wines, and he seeks to develop wines that are a real expression of the Swartland's soil, climate, and vineyards.

Intellego Wines' vineyards are located on the slopes of the Kasteelberg mountain, at elevations ranging from 120 to 400 meters above sea level. The wines have a particular character and minerality due to the soils, which are largely shale and granite. The winery makes a variety of wines, including Chenin Blanc, Syrah, and Cinsault, all of which are fermented naturally and aged in old French oak barrels.

Intellego Wines' wines are noted for their purity, freshness, and elegance. They are produced in small batches with an emphasis on quality over quantity. Jurgen believes that the best wines are made by letting the fruits speak for themselves, and he is constantly exploring for new methods to reflect the Swartland's distinct terroir.
