1368 Pago Cerro Las Monjas 2008
Region: Granada, Spain
Grape: Cab Franc, Cab Sauvignon, Grenache, Merlot
Style: Ripe and elegant red
Aged 24 months in barrels, and 96 in the bottles, like a lot of Spanish producers they age it before releasing it so that you don’t have to.
The wine is ready but can still age another 10 years before starting losing its intensity and its potency. Quite elegant and classic, when Bordeaux meets Spain, with a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Garnacha.
The olfactory spectrum is intense, organized around hints of ripe fruit, in particular plum, cherry and fig, accompanied by tobacco, charred wood and dark chocolate deriving from ageing. On the palate, it is concentrated, juicy and robust, with an important tannic texture. It closes with a very long finish characterized by a slightly savoury aftertaste.
Please let it breathe before consumption.
