Vino di Anna

Anna Martens and Eric Narioo collaborated in 2008 to create their first wine on Mount Etna. They bought their first vineyard of old vine Nerello Mascelese in Contrada Crasà, which included a derelict palmento and "deposito" two years later. Their family wine estate now spans 7 hectares of land on the volcano's northern slopes, all of which are farmed biodynamically. Their range of wines reflect the unique character of their "terroir". They also produce Extra Virgin Olive Oil and aid in the preservation of the endangered Sicilian black bee.Eric and Anna's winemaking philosophy is to create wines that are expressive, true to their origins, and reflect the distinct characteristics of each vintage. All vineyards are hand-cultivated and do not use chemicals. During September and October, grapes are harvested only when they are healthy and ripe. The winery uses minimal intervention techniques, such as fermenting with indigenous yeasts and not using additives, fining, or filtering. They use very little or no SO2 in their manufacturing. Eric and Anna's expertise and dedication to producing mineral-driven, distinctive, and highly drinkable wines are evident in every glass.
